All hazardous chemicals including waste oil, engine coolant, hydraulic fluid, gasoline, diesel fuel, paint, thinner or other solvents may be disposed of at Riverfront Yacht Services. Please see the office for location of recycling and waste chemical container location and for assistance.

All spills of gasoline, diesel fuel, oil or other hazardous materials must be reported immediately to the office.

Sanding & painting are allowed. However, plastic tarps must be used underneath the boat to collect paint chips, sanding dust and paint drippings. Also, avoid sanding on windy days. Removed paint chips, sanding dust and paint drippings must be disposed of in the trash dumpster located outside the repair shops. This material should not be allowed to enter the river, surrounding ground area or any sewer drains.

Scrap cardboard, paper, plastic bottles or jugs and glass go in one container. Aluminum cans should be separated and placed in the barrels marked “aluminum cans only”, these are collected by acbc and benefit the Cleveland Fire Burn Unit for children. All these items can go into the SMALLER APPROPIATE LABELED recycle containers located outside the repair shop next to the main RECYCLE ONLY dumpster. NOTE, THIS dumpster is locked at all times to eliminate garbage being disposed in it, USE the smaller containers.

Normal garbage can be put into the open, unlocked GARBAGE dumpster outside the storage building next to the river.

Shrink wraps are recycled but have to be handled separately. Some important notes;
All shrink wraps need to be de-banded. This is easier done when it is on the boat and cut off the lower banding with a pair of scissors or CAREFULLY with a knife. This cut out banding is garbage and is disposed into the garbage dumpster. Doors need to be removed and stored on your boat for the summer.

Raw shrink film and taped seems etc are then rolled up and placed in front of your boat. RYS will pick up and handle at a later date. DO NOT DISPOSE main bulk shrinkwrap in dumpster.

Antifreeze used for winterizing purposes should be of the non-toxic type. Ethylene Glycol (green) antifreeze is not acceptable. Also, it is illegal to discharge Ethylene Glycol into any waterway in the United States. We have non-toxic antifreeze available for purchase.

The Environmental Protection Agency has become very strict in the enforcement of their policies. Anyone found in violation of the above policies will be held totally responsible for any current or future environmental impact fees.

Also, proof of liability and workers comp insurance must be submitted to and approved by the office.

Owners of vessels may undertake boat projects as needed to maintain their vessels safety, appearance and utility. New or substantial exterior work encompassing more than 25% of the hull surface must be reviewed by management.
